Background:  Up until a couple of years ago, I always thought of Reno-Tahoe as that cool-looking ski resort mecca with a celebrity golf tournament on TV every year. I could not have been more wrong. I was lucky enough to be invited on a media trip in 2017 to experience what this area has to offer for golf groups. I was simply blown away by the quality and beauty of the golf available in that northwest part of Nevada and neighboring northern California. Reno is on a major upswing and is not the seedy little town it may have been in the past. In many ways, this area had become my home away from home.

Golf and Lodging:  There are a number of courses in the Reno-Tahoe area that were built in the last 15 years with the intention of being private facilities. The market crash derailed some of those plans, so golf groups now have access to these pristine, high-end, daily fee courses. Reno also boasts a few private facilities that I am working with to allow for outside play. Combine the quality of the actual golf courses with the unreal surroundings found in the Lake Tahoe area, and you have yourself one unreal golf destination! I am also a HUGE fan of Reno as a staging area. Downtown is only 5 minutes from the airport and is easy to get in and out of.

Overview: What I like the most about each little pocket of golf in and around Reno is you can do one showcase course in each, or drive down the street and get a second round in that day really close to the first. So whether your group is only interested in one round, or a group that loves to squeeze in 36 holes on some days, Reno-Tahoe has you covered.
