Located just 4.5 miles from downtown Reno, LakeRidge Golf Course is a local’s favorite. Opened in 1969, the course offers some terrific views of the surrounding mountains as well as the downtown Reno skyline from certain spots. LakeRidge features one of the most memorable holes you will ever play. The par 3 15th holes sits high above Lake Stanley (some 150 feet) and your target is an island green without much room for error. To add to the hole’s challenge, you aren’t exactly hitting a sand wedge either…the back tee box plays 239 yards!

I found the Robert Trent Jones, Sr. design to be one filled with terrific variety. There were holes you felt like you could score on, followed by holes where you were holding on for dear life from the minute you stepped on to the tee box. The clubhouse and restaurant at LakeRidge were fantastic, and the staff was friendly and helpful from the bag drop and beyond. LakeRidge would be the perfect course for your group to play on a day where you didn’t feel like driving much, but still wanted a quality course.
